The Voices for Veritas delegation to Iraq returned to the United States on Friday, April 30. The group of nine Dominican Sisters from eight different congregations visited Iraq in order to seek the truth about the effects which the continued bombings and the U.N. sanctions are having on the Iraqi people. While there, the sisters wrote a letter to Hilary Rodham Clinton, recognizing her for her continued advocacy for the human rights of women and children, telling her what they witnessed, and asking her to urge the president to end the sanctions which are destroying the Iraqi people and their country.
Dominican Sisters on the delegation were: Jane Abell, O.P. (Houston, TX), Arlene Flaherty, O.P. (Blauvelt, NY), Marilyn Foster, O.P. (Adrian, MI), Zaida Gonzalez, O.P. (Amytiville, NY), Jackie Hudson, O.P. (Grand Rapids, MI), Regina McKillip, O.P. (Sinsinawa, WI), Ann Marie Rimmer, O.P. (Caldwell, NJ), Agnes Schneider, O.P. (Racine, WI), Anne Sullivan, O.P. (Caldwell, NJ)
