A Memorable Celebration YearAs we celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Dominican Sisters of Houston, we look back with a deep sense of gratitude for all who have made possible the wonderful celebrations we have shared. We are proud of the dedicated effort and achievements of more than 100 volunteers who have actively partnered in the Dominican mission by planning and carrying out the 125th Anniversary Celebrations. Throughout this year, from September 30, 2007 to September 28, 2008, a variety of programs have taken place, reflecting the four pillars of Dominican Life: prayer, study, community and ministry. Please click to view the 125th Anniversary Year Sponsors and the 125th Anniversary Honorary Committee.The response to the Anniversary Year has been fantastic and attendance at the events beyond our expectations. Over 1000 partners in mission celebrated at the 125th Opening Liturgy and Reception. And, approximately 1000 more participated in the Speaker Series featuring Timothy Radcliffe OP, Linda Gibler OP and Mary Catherine Hilkert, OP. The Ministry Planning Committee prepared a series of Dominican Reunions that were extremely successful in reuniting friends of the Dominican Sisters, and the Prayer Planning Committee provided the 125th Anniversary Prayer Series, including Evensong at the new Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. The year-long celebration concludes with the Closing Mass on September 28, 2008 at St. Pius X High School. |
