For 800 years, Dominican men and women all over the world have continued the vision of St. Dominic to preach the good news. The Dominican Sisters of Houston have carried on this heritage for 125 years in Texas and beyond.

Dominican life revolves around the word of God received in PRAYER and STUDY, and the word of God proclaimed in COMMUNITY and PREACHING.

Formation Process

The formation process involves:

  • Regular meetings with the director
  • Two discernment weekends
  • Opportunities for group involvement 
  • Study of Theology, leading to a Master's Degree (Formation)
  • Study of Dominican spirituality...the vows, community life, personal growth and ministry
  • Regular spiritual direction
  • Ministry at St. Dominic Villa, our retired sisters community
  • Final vows preparation in the "Life Commitment Program" sponsored by the Religious Formation Conference
